Public Comment Protocol

NOTE: For the specific details about participating in a meeting, please refer to the agenda of the relevant board, committee, or commission.

Public meetings generally begin and end with opportunities for you to make a three-minute comment. Comments can be made in person or online using the meeting’s “Participate Virtually” link. The option to participate virtually is not available for all public meetings. Check the meeting calendar to ensure virtual participation is an option.

To comment in person, sign up when you arrive at the meeting with the County Clerk. If you do not sign up, you will be allowed to speak after those who have signed up. When you are called upon, approach the podium, state your name and residence for the record, and make your comment.

To comment online, use the “Participate Virtually” link to sign in. Use the “raise hand” feature to indicate your wish to comment. When you are called upon, unmute yourself, state your name and residence for the record, and make your comment.

To keep the County business on the agenda progressing, comments to boards at public meetings are not intended to be question-and-answer sessions or discussions.

For more details about participating in public meetings, see the agenda of the particular board, committee, or commission to determine the time, place, and manner of public comments.
