Sylvia Rhodea

District 8

Allendale Charter Township

Sylvia Rhodea took her seat on the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners in 2023. A lifelong West Michigan resident, she grew up in a large family grounded in faith, perseverance, and hard work. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Cornerstone University.

Before entering public service, Sylvia worked in foster care and special needs adoption, and later operated a child photography and design business from her home. After her youngest child experienced a vaccine injury, she began to advocate for health freedom and parental rights. She went on to support parents in protecting children from over-sexualization in schools and preserving family choice in education.

In 2021, Sylvia co-founded Ottawa Impact to promote freedom, faith, and family values in local government. Guided by her Christian faith, Sylvia strives to protect religious liberty, uphold parental rights, and ensure Ottawa County remains a strong, vibrant community for future generations.
